The W.M. Keck Foundation established the Science and Engineering Research Program with the objective to support high-risk/high-impact projects that are distinctive and novel in their approach and will lead to breakthrough discoveries and new technologies. Past grants have supported research at the forefront of numerous fields and across disciplinary lines at major universities and independent research institutions. These grants facilitate prototype experiments, the development of vital scientific instruments, exploration of new technologies as well as the use of technology to address new questions. Grants range from $500,000 to $5 million.
