Contingent Awards

The W. M. Keck Foundation relies on regular updates to evaluate progress toward the vision and goals we share with each of our grantees.

If payment of a grant award is contingent on the grantee meeting conditions stipulated in the grant award letter, the grantee must submit a Contingency Update Letter every six months through the grantee portal until the condition(s) have been met.  Contingency Update Letters are due as follows:

Grant CycleDue Dates
June November 1, then May 1
December May 1, then November 1

If either due date falls on a weekend, the deadline is extended to 4:30 p.m. (Pacific Time).

The letter must address the following points:

  • Progress on meeting the conditions for payment
  • Project timeline
  • Revised project budget (if applicable)
  • Update on fundraising

If the Foundation requires additional information or if information received by the Foundation is insufficient, we will notify the grantee via email.  If the condition is met before the update letter due date, required documentation must be submitted at that time.  Payment will be made once all conditions have been met.

Contingency Update Letters must be submitted through the official liaison to the Foundation.  Contingency Update Letters submitted through other personnel will not be accepted.  Please contact the Foundation with any questions.
